After these warm-ups, we will play the shooting game Make it, Take it! This is a great game that involves, dribbling, passing and shooting skills. This game is fast moving and it keeps all students involved. *4th and 5th only*- Our 4th and 5th graders will be completing their curl-up tests for Fitnessgram this week. This will happen before our students get to play their games. We are looking forward to another great week! We are starting our striking unit today. We will focus on basketball skills throughout this
unit. This week, we are going to focus on the skill of dribbling. All grades will practice basketball dribbling. We will begin with stretches and exercise. After the completion of these, we will complete our 3 minute jog. After jogging, we will right into dribbling skills! All students will get the chance to practice their dribbling. The type of dribbling will be based off their current skill sets. We will then play our favorite game of Show me the Money! This game includes a variety of skills. Students will use, dribbling, shooting, passing and even some math skills during this game. We are looking forward to a great week! We are continuing our kicking unit this week! All classes will begin by participating in
our awesome game, crab soccer. This is a fun kicking game that involves fitness. All students will pretend to be crabs, while trying to kick the ball in to the other teams goal! We will also play keep it zero this week, which is a fun dribbling game that gets every student a ton of repetitions with their skills. We will begin like always with stretches, exercises and running. Looking forward to another great week! For the next two weeks, we will be working on our kicking unit. We will focus on multiple
kicking skills throughout the unit. This week we will be focused on trapping and passing with the inside of our feet. We will also focus on long clearing kicks during our games. Our classes will begin with stretching and exercises like always. We will then move into Racecars, for our cardio of the week. After the completion of these activities, we will work on our passing and trapping skills with a partner. Every student in PE throughout the day will be working on these skills, during our instant activity. After the instant activity, we will play Home run! This a modified version of kickball that our students absolutely love! Although this is a short week with Steam day and a teacher workday, we are still looking forward to a great week with our students!! |
