We have finally arrived to our last week of our throwing and catching unit!! Our students
have done a great job and I believe every student has improved their skills!! We will be adding our Halloween run in order to get excited for Thursday!! We will also throw and catch with groups of 3 as our warm up this week. After the completion of our warm ups and instant activities, we will play the throwing game Battleship! In this game, classes are separated into two teams like the board game. The students will then throw every ball they can over the mats to try and knock over the other teams pins. If they knock over all of the other teams pins successfully, the will have sunk their battleship. We are looking forward to a great week!!

After the completion of the pacer test, we will continue with an instant warm up activity by playing catch with a partner. After the warm up, we will play the game star wars! This is a very fun throwing, catching and dodging game that our students love to play. Its a great game to work on skills, while also competing against other Jedi's and storm troopers. Grades 2-5 will focus on overhand throwing and catching. After the completion of our instant activity, we will all play Oscar's Trashcan!! This game is a school favorite, it focuses on throwing accuracy. In this game, all students will try and throw balls into a giant trashcan made out of gym mats. The best part is, some students will be Oscar and they will be inside the trashcans throwing the balls back out. We are looking forward to a great week!! (Short week last week). We will then finish up the week with games like Bulldog, Scooter tag and Old Man. All of these games will help our students work on their CFD skills, while also being involved in cardiovascular activities. We will also introduce the pacer test to all of our students this week. Although we won't run long, it's important to introduce this skill so that our students know the rules! Please remember to wear tennis shoes on your PE days! We are looking forward to a great week!! Although we have a short week, we are still expecting a lot of CFD action!! All of our
students will get to go outside and enjoy this wonderful week. We will be going outside and playing the game Lord of the Rings. This might be an all time favorite for our students here at NPE. The classes will be broken down into 4 teams, their jobs will be to protect their own rings, while also trying to collect the other 12 rings on the field. The students must make sure to dodge and flee all opponents while on their land, but also chase all students off of their land. The students will play this game while wearing flags, so it also introduces the flag component for our upcoming flag football unit. Our younger students will also be outside enjoying the game flag tag. This is a CFD game that introduces flag pulling and dodging techniques. We are looking forward to a great week! Today starts our chasing, fleeing and dodging unit! Our younger students will participate
in games such as freeze tag, the Wii game and we will finish up with Sharks and Minnows. All of these games help teach our students spatial awareness while participating in fun CFD games! Our older students will participate in freeze tag, Sharks and Minnows and Grumpy Old Man. These are fun games that not only help our students with CFD skills, these games focus on using strategies and peripheral vision in order to be successful. Students will also get put in their official squads starting today. Please remember to wear tennis shoes on your students PE days. Thank you!! We will continue our spatial awareness unit this week. All students will perform the
warmup game aerobic bowling. This is a fun interactive game where the students work with classmates in order to score the most, using their bowling skills! After we have completed our warmup, our 2nd-5th graders will play the game hoop tag! This is a great game where students must dodge hoops that are rolling around the gym. The students must also be aware of their surroundings while they are moving around the gym. Our K-1 students will play musical hula hoops instead of hoop tag, in order to work on their spatial awareness at a more beginning level. We are looking forward to a great week! |
